Meet Mrs. Hurst
This is my 7th year, as the Talent Development teacher, at Barnette Elementary. I have been teaching gifted students for 19 years and I have enjoyed every minute. I graduated with a Bachelors degree of Science in Education, from Auburn Montgomery. I taught fifth grade language arts for two years and then transitioned to the gifted education teacher position. I graduated from the University of Alabama with a Masters degree in Gifted Education, for grades K-12. I became National Board Certified in 2014. I enjoy finding extracurricular activities for my students, to become involved in. I am the National Elementary Honor Society adviser and a head coach for Girls on the Run.
In my free time, I enjoy doing many things. In the fall, I am busy attending Auburn University football games and watching the Carolina Panthers play. I enjoy paddle boarding on Lake Norman, during the warm months. Other activities that I enjoy include, reading, traveling, spending time with my family, golf and running.
